St. Paul father arrested on suspicion of abusing infant son

A St. Paul man was arrested on suspicion of child abuse Wednesday evening after bringing his 4-month-old son to the hospital with severe injuries, police said.
Police were called just after 8 p.m. when officials at Children's Hospital in St. Paul discovered the boy had broken ribs and a serious head injury.
The 45-year-old father, who was still being interviewed late Wednesday and was not identified, was arrested on suspicion of malicious punishment of a child. Police said the boy's mother was out of town when the injuries occurred.
The child's injuries remained under investigation late Wednesday. His exact medical condition wasn't immediately available.
